Sea Anglers Conservation Network.

The Sea Anglers’ Conservation Network mission is to inform anglers and involve sea anglers in marine conservation and anglers’ access issues.

Recruiting its membership from the angling internet community, using email and websites for communication, and relying on its membership to provide information and expertise from their own resources, it is a free to join organisation.

With a membership consisting of individuals, clubs and federations SACN is regularly involved in discussions with politicians and government departments and works closely with other sea angling representative organisations such as the NFSA and BASS.

But it’s most important asset is its membership, who are individually prepared to get involved and are often called upon to put pen to paper to defend their sport, the fish stocks, and the marine environment.

The campaign by bass anglers on the island of Guernsey to preserve their bass fishing in the face of heavy over-exploitation of the vulnerable spawning fish has moved up a gear with the launch of a Campaign Website.

Their petition has already flown past the the 500 signature target, and is attracting considerable interest from local press, radio and TV stations.

Many anglers from outside Guernsey, including some very well known names, often attracted to visit the island with their families, have avowed not to return until the slaughter of the spawning bass shoals are halted.

Angling related tourism is important to the economy of the island and any boycott is likely to affect many local businesses.

Bass Anglers Sportfishing Society

"Dedicated to the Conservation of our Premier Sporting Seafish"

The Bass Anglers' Sportfishing Society was formed following a meeting of bass anglers in March 1973. Society website Here

Members come from all parts of the British Isles, with a few from even further afield, and from all walks of life.

We believe that together we have an opportunity to encourage the conservation, research and protection of European sea bass Dicentrachus labrax, and to improve techniques of angling for the species.
